Neoliberalism and Global Cinema : Capital, Culture, and Marxist Critique Neoliberalism and Global Cinema : Capital, Culture, and Marxist Critique PDF By author Keith B. Wagner last download was at 2018-08-30 38:16:46. This book is good alternative for The Case of Miss R. (Psychology Revivals) : The Interpretation of a Life Story. Download now for free or you can read online Neoliberalism and Global Cinema : Capital, Culture, and Marxist Critique book. In cinema studies today, rarely do we find a direct investigation into the culture of capitalism and how it has been refracted and fabricated in global cinema production under neoliberalism. However, the current economic crisis and the subsequent Wall Street bailout in 2008 have brought about a worldwide skepticism regarding the last four decades of economic restructuring and the culture that has accompanied it. In this edited volume, an international ensemble of scholars looks at neoliberalism, both as culture and political economy, in the various cinemas of the world. In essays encompassing the cinemas of Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe, and the United States the authors outline how the culture and subjectivities engendered by neoliberalism have been variously performed, contested, and reinforced in these cinemas. The premise of this book is that the cultural and economic logic of neoliberalism, i.e., the radical financialization and market-driven calculations, of all facets of society are symptoms best understood by Marxist theory and its analysis of the central antagonisms and contradictions of capital. Taking a variety of approaches, ranging from political economy, ideological critique, the intersection of aesthetics and politics, social history and critical-cultural theory, this volume offers a fresh, broad-based Marxist analysis of contemporary film/media. Topics include: the global albeit antagonistic nature of neoliberal culture; the search for a new aesthetic and documentary language; the contestation between labor and capital in cultural producion; the political economy of hollywood, and questions of gender, sexuality, and the nation state in relation to neoliberalism.

Surviving and Thriving in Stepfamily Relationships : What Works and What Doesn't Surviving and Thriving in Stepfamily Relationships : What Works and What Doesn't PDF By author Patricia L. Download now for free or you can read online Surviving and Thriving in Stepfamily Relationships : What Works and What Doesn't book. Surviving and Thriving in Stepfamily Relationships draws on current research, a wide variety of clinical modalities, and thirty years of clinical work with stepfamily members to describe the special challenges stepfamilies face. The book presents the concept of "stepfamily architecture" and the five challenges it creates, and delineates three different levels of strategies-psychoeducation, building interpersonal skills, and intrapsychic work-for meeting those challenges in dozens of different settings.

The model is designed to be useful both to stepfamily members themselves and to a wide variety of practitioners, from a highly trained clinician who needs to know how and when to work on all three levels, to a school counselor or clergy person who may work on the first two levels but refer out for level three. It will also be useful to educators, judges, mediators, lawyers and medical personnel who will practice on the first level, but need to understand the other two to guide their work.

Subalternity and Difference : Investigations from the North and the South Subalternity and Difference : Investigations from the North and the South PDF By author Gyanendra Pandey last download was at 2017-01-16 44:25:06. This book is good alternative for The Case of Miss R. (Psychology Revivals) : The Interpretation of a Life Story. Download now for free or you can read online Subalternity and Difference : Investigations from the North and the South book. Focusing on concepts that have been central to investigation of the history and politics of marginalized and disenfranchised populations, this book asks how discourses of `subalternity' and `difference' simultaneously constitute and interrupt each other. The authors explore the historical production of conditions of marginality and minority, and challenge simplistic notions of difference as emanating from culture rather than politics. They return, thereby, to a question that feminist and other oppositional movements have raised, of how modern societies and states take account of, and manage, social, economic and cultural difference. The different contributions investigate this question in a variety of historical and political contexts, from India and Ecuador, to Britain and the USA.

The resulting study is of invaluable interest to students and scholars in a wide range of disciplines, including History, Anthropology, Gender and Queer and Colonial and Postcolonial Studies.

Social Security in Contemporary Japan Social Security in Contemporary Japan PDF By author Mari Osawa last download was at 2017-01-18 09:04:29. This book is good alternative for The Case of Miss R. (Psychology Revivals) : The Interpretation of a Life Story. Download now for free or you can read online Social Security in Contemporary Japan book. The present study analyzes the livelihood security system of contemporary Japan in international comparison from a historical and gender perspective. It posits `livelihood security systems' rather than `welfare states' or `welfare regimes' as its object of analysis to enter the role of non-governmental institutions and of governmental policies reaching beyond income transfers into vision.

Based on rich statistical materials, the evolution of Japan's livelihood security system in recent decades is traced to reveal a rigid male breadwinner orientation increasingly out of step with social realities. The need for remedying the gender bias built into Japan's social insurance schemes has been politically highlighted since the late 1990s, but legislative action has continued to be deferred.

The author argues that at present the livelihood security system of Japan is not only dysfunctional, but actually functioning in reverse, in a sense of furthering social exclusion. The study concludes with suggestions for a possible reconstruction of Japan's social security system, arguing for an increased role of the `third sector' or `social economy' in livelihood security and care provision.

This book will appeal to scholars and students with an interest in social policy, welfare economics and gender studies, as well as Japanese politics and society.

Guiding the Child (Psychology Revivals) : On the principles of Individual Psychology Guiding the Child (Psychology Revivals) : On the principles of Individual Psychology PDF By author Alfred Adler last download was at 2018-03-12 24:24:22. This book is good alternative for The Case of Miss R. (Psychology Revivals) : The Interpretation of a Life Story. Download now for free or you can read online Guiding the Child (Psychology Revivals) : On the principles of Individual Psychology book. First published in 1930 this book was written under the leadership and inspiration of Alfred Adler. He and a group of physicians and educators organized 28 child guidance clinics in Vienna, Berlin and Munich in the years prior to publication. Conducted according to the tenets of Individual Psychology, these clinics revealed many new and stimulating problems that they felt were as applicable to conditions in America and England at the time as in the experimental countries. The book was designed as an organized and connected account of the problems, accomplishments and failures encountered in the daily work, reported from actual experience by the experts in charge. Adler edited the volume and assigned each subject to the specialist in that field. The result was designed to be of value to the welfare worker, the physician, and the forward-looking parent of the time. Today it can be read and enjoyed in its historical context.

Managing Networks of Creativity Managing Networks of Creativity PDF By author Udo Hermann Staber last download was at 2017-09-03 05:31:40. This book is good alternative for The Case of Miss R. (Psychology Revivals) : The Interpretation of a Life Story. Download now for free or you can read online Managing Networks of Creativity book. The aim of the Managing Networks of Creativity is to improve our understanding of creativity and the management of creativity, as discussed in the fields of management (including strategic management, organization science, organizational behaviour, and entrepreneurship), economics, sociology, regional studies, and political science.

While research on creativity has made several important contributions to the theoretical literature, little attention has been paid to the development and testing of formal theoretical models, especially in those cases where creativity is the result not so much of individual behaviour than the outcome of collective efforts, connecting individuals in organizations, social networks, projects, geographic clusters, and so forth. The proposed volume includes studies, both conceptual and empirical, which, as a whole, "deconstruct" the concept of creativity and the management of creativity by identifying specific situations, contexts, firms, clusters, and districts in which creative processes evolve. The reader is provided with in-depth discussions of theoretical issues and a range of descriptive cases and survey data that the authors use to explore or test concepts and models. Overall, the volume aims to integrate current debates concerning the role of creativity (and innovation) in economic and social development.
